Symbols

Symbols and symbol data are very basic financial data used in technical analysis. Because charts are displays of various symbol price values, you will need to insert symbols into these displays.

Symbol Data Download

User can create a new chart in the insert symbol process, or add symbol to existing chart for compare purpose. Either way, symbol data is downloaded to mobile device and displayed. Download request can be divided into chunks (separated into portions) for better usability and response. User can view and perform operations on data as soon as first chunk is arrived, opposing full download long wait that can occur if not using chunks.

Datafeed Plug-in

MarketCE Assist's internal engine retrieves symbol data through its datafeed plug-ins. Those plug-ins are separately developed DLLs, used for communication with market data provider. For the initial version of MarketCE Assist, Yahoo Finance datafeed plug-in is developed. It uses Yahoo Finance web pages to retrieve historical chart data (daily, weekly or monthly) and to perform symbol search. Availability of different datafeed plug-ins depends on our future collaboration with market data providers (including real-time data providers).
